The Elgin Street Mission
From EndCanadianPoverty.ca
The Mission has been working with the people of Sudbury's inner city since 1989. The organization has grown from providing toast and coffee to a few in need to being a primary service provider in Sudbury serving over 150 people every day. Each year, over 50,000 meals are served to those in need. Clients have on-site access to laundry and shower facilities as well as phone and fax services.
The Mission offers individual counselling as well as mutual support groups which enable individuals in need to improve their lives and can advocate on a client's behalf when needed in referring to outside services.
This program serves twelve meals per week including, Breakfast 7:00-9:00 a.m. daily, Supper 7:00-8:30 p.m. daily, Saturday Brunch 10:00–12:00 p.m., and Sunday Lunch 1:30-2:30 p.m.
The Elgin Street Mission offers pre-job guidance: job interview training, job readiness, resume preparation assistance and provide job search assistance.
