"Loblaw Companies Ltd. is chopping 800 to 1,000 office jobs as part of its restructuring, the retailer announced Monday. The company said the job cuts will be limited to its head office and regional offices. It said no store or distribution-centre employees are affected by the cuts.

"This change is about making sure we support our store team more effectively and about creating a leaner and more responsive organization that moves more quickly," Loblaw executive chairman Galen G. Weston said in a release."
