Harsh winter causes burnout among shelter volunteers

"Most emergency shelters across B.C.'s Lower Mainland opened their doors when the cold snap began Wednesday — but operators say the winter's extreme weather is taking a toll on their volunteers.

They say it has been one of the busiest winters for the homeless shelters, noting that many of the volunteer staff are starting to feel burned out."
